The Knight and the Demon

The knight stepped forward,

a great sword in his hand,

the demon stood before him,

it would be its last stand.

The knight swung his sword,

and the thing dodged the blow,

it’s clawed hand reached for him,

Carnage and chaos it would sow.

He turned the sword around,

and he cut off the demon’s arm.

For he had sworn an oath.

He would end the beasts harm.

Again the sword did turn around,

as he plunged it through his chest,

he was just a simple soldier,

and he was simply doing his best.

The demon howled in agony,

it was heard throughout the night,

all throughout the land,

everyone heard the fight.

Again the sword thrust in,

and the demon disappeared.

But he was not dead. No.

It was what the knight feared.

From behind he was hit,

but his helmet took the blow,

it wasn’t fancy armor,

and it wasn’t built for show.

He turned around with blade,

he’d put the beast to bed,

lunging forward sword in hand,

aiming for the monsters head.

It didn’t howl, but went silent,

and so it was the demon fell.

After that the town fared better.

And all the people were well.
