Life has a way of mocking people. It makes them suffer, takes solace in their agony. Sees them give up and then gives them a pipe dream only to yet again see them break down.
However, if life has a way of mocking people, people also have a way of getting back at life. They counteract their lampooning by never giving up. They try again and again. Helplessly, sometimes hopelessly but always endlessly.
But what if all their efforts go in vain? What if no matter how hard they try, they are always met with the same repeated fate ; A lump in the throat that's too hard and too bitter to swallow.
What if they fall for a person they know they can never be with ?
What if every time they are asked "who do you love?
" they are compelled to think about all the times their loved one smiled at them and it was as if the sun itself had radiated its kind warmth on them, making their day a little better.
Think about how they feigned ignorance when they knew all the important dates in their loved ones life,
Think about how every time their loved one cared for them, they fell for them a little deeper, a little harder.
Think about how they constrained their hands wanting to pinch their loved one's cheeks when their clumsiness got the best of them.
Think about how hearing them laugh made their heart beat a little faster, their cheeks a little warmer.
Think about how there would be no other place they'd rather be than in their loved one's embrace.
Yet after all these agonizing thoughts they are forced to say "no one"
What can one do when their lover looks absolutely mesmerizing, impossibly ethereal and one hundred percent devastatingly heart wrenching?.
What is there to do when a thousand words of adoration are destined to die at the tip of one's tongue, simply because "the ones they love aren't theirs to keep."
How is it that "love" the purest feeling that has the potential to overcome all sorts of challenges and sorrows play such a foul trick?
Because sometimes, love is in the concealment of one's own grief in order to see the happiness on their lover's face.
Sometimes, love is in letting go; walking away from that one person that you can't imagine your life without. Love is admiring secretly what was never yours to begin with.
Love may even be in pretending, pretending that you love someone when your whole soul proves it to be otherwise; Just to make things easier for the ones you cherish.
But most of all, love is in acceptance. Accepting that the love you are yearning for wouldn't be reciprocated as strongly as the love you're giving.
Accepting that it's better to start anew in rebuilding yourself than to see a little part of you chip away each day; the best part of you. Accepting that you deserve better and will get better.
And accepting that love is a process which starts from within.
Therefore, in that process Its okay to feel like you don't deserve to feel loved, okay to feel that you're drowning in your empty, lovelorn heart.
It is okay to feel this dejected in love because it is only then that you'll ever come to know the true meaning of love.
Similarly, if you've never been lovesick then how can you appreciate what true love is?.
Nevertheless, once you entirely devour the complete essence of love, you'll understand the true significance of your own love and then only give it to those whom you know are worth receiving it.
Realize that happiness is okay, as long as it's real.
So love yourself, know your significance and know that there's a form of happiness that can only be felt through sadness.
