One day, I opened my wrought-iron doors
to let everyone feast from my bundled-up bounty.
Their hungry hands lunged at every morsel
and thirsty eyes soaked up everything.
When the carnivorous crowd bade goodbye
and the flies had all been swatted away,
you came around and snuck a peek,
wondering if you were too late.
With your hand in mine, I gently pulled you closer
and took out a lump of linen from behind me.
"Here, I saved you a piece", and showed you a mishmash of morsel that's all crumbled up.
And as you savored it, your heavy-lidded eyes lit up
for you knew I saved you the best kind.
