I tightly close my heavy eyes to stop the tears from dragging me down.
While I see your tear stains have been wiped away. Your eyes are now dry.
Do sands in the hourglass fall slower for me... or do the hands of time tilt it willingly for you?
Are my feet too heavy to catch up to where you’re standing at the top... Or did I get lost along the way?
The more I run, the heavier my tears become as they try to grasp the ground.
And your once radiant smile is blurry from a distance. So I stop. I try to catch my breath. There is nothing else that I can do but be still.
And yet, in the end, the sun greets both of us no matter how far apart we are.
