This is the first poem I've shared with anyone but family. I welcome any and all of your thoughts and/or critiques! Thanks so much in advance!
I look around the world today and see the pain and strife, it's then I am so thankful for my ordinary life.
There are those who choose to terrify this world we're living in, violence and guns that take the lives of the innocent ones within.
So much hatred running rampant, the sound of war is ringing loud, and we can't help but notice, the darkening of the clouds.
There are children who are crying in the streets we walk upon, with no one there to hold them at the breaking of the dawn.
All around us we see people, who could use a helping hand, just words of encouragement someone there to understand.
Homeless people, single mothers, starving children cry in vain, depressed people with no answers, all cry out with a voice of pain.
What will it take for us to see, the answer is still unknown, in order to achieve world peace we have to start right here at home. Melissa Phillips
My inspiration came from my loved ones and all that I am blessed with. I feel sad when I think of all who are affected by everything that's taking place in the world today.
From covid to the riots, and all the senseless attacks and unrest among friends and neighbors that still rages on, claiming the lives of so many innocent men, women and children. I pray for world peace, I still have hope in all of us. I believe.... . 🙏 🌍 💞
