a poem about the silence, sorta.

Silence

By Maria Okumura

Silence fills the space around me

everything is fragile and still

no one else seems to see

that the air around has had its fill

what if it decides to just stop

to let us fall to the ground

to let all the useless drop

to leave us all without a sound

I wish I could leave

and disappear

I wish the air would thieve

away this very year

and leave me to be alone

in the silence all around

leave me to atone

without a single sound

everything around is without gleam

and I will never say

in my mind I always scream

but out loud I'm just "Okay."
