fire

by mangopie

right now,

i am a fire.

hot,

burning,

seething with rage

that has been kept inside the fireplace

for far too long.

right now,

i am a fire.

emitting smoke,

erupting,

wanting to burn everything in sight.

bright,

exploding,

bursting.

small pieces of black ash surround me.

the little flame i had has turned into a wildfire,

and now there’s nothing i can do to stop it.

i want to scream.

i want to cry.

i want to explode.

everything’s so unfair.

i didn’t want it to end up like this.

right now, i am a fire.

roaring,

blazing,

sparking,

slowly

dying down.

getting smaller as the large raindrops wash over me

flaming less and less

until all that is left

is my embers.
