I linger in the cold at the door. Waiting for you to say something more.

Lingering

I linger in the cold at the door.

Waiting for you to say something more.

Sighing at myself - ignoring my fiery core.

I see your eyes; you're looking down.

They're remarkably, beautifully brown.

And I'm helplessly lost within; ready to drown.

I feel your hand, as it wraps my waist,

Longing for one final taste

Before our moments are slowly effaced.

You embrace me with your warmth,

As I slowly forget what lies forth.

You comfort me and hold me near

... to inevitably become my only fear.

I remain reluctant in my choice

And all I want is to hear your voice.

I hadn't thought I'd be shy

To ask you how or why.

Or to even say goodbye.

Now I know there's nothing left.

Except for us bereft.
