A short poem about conformity.

The Conformity Tree

by lost

Everyday, I walk by this tree

There's people around it as happy as can be.

They smile

at me But I want to be sitting alone under that tree.

Leaves evergreen

tall as can be as I walk all I see is them looking at me

I see them smiling.

but I can tell what they mean isn't well

Can I just be under that tree?

They all surround it

holding hands, even in rain through their smiles, I see pain What do they even gain?

To get to the tree

I must get through them, I see I can get there, I can get under that tree

I push through their hands

At last! I see land!

I sit happily. The tree holds my spot.

But then, they all grab me

they all surround me they push me, they took away my shot.

Now I'm part of their circle

their hands squeezing mine and they won't let go I've been waiting some time

I find myself smiling

not from happiness, but through pain. I have lost everything, that I should've gained.

I look in the distance

I see a boy walk He's walking this way I wish I could talk

But there's no way to stop him,

there's no way you see. Soon HE"LL be stuck here. Under this tree.

For we are all stuck here. Under the tree.

This is clever for its originality. The meter is outstanding. You stanzas just keep on punching. This is excellent.

@george I couldn't sleep one night and I was up really late and whenever I can't sleep I like to write. The ideas kind of just come to me. I started writing about conforming to society and I wanted to put it in a more interesting, more open minded perspective.
