Are you there?

by limerence

Alex? Are you there?

I slept alone last night again, Alex.

Aimlessly drifting from one cloud to the next.

Amid trying to find a happy place,

Angst filled my gut and I tried to swallow my tongue.

I am doing what you told me to do.

Adrift my head became,

and I dreamed of swimming the length of an ocean to get to you.

Alex, I think I'm lost.

Alex? Are you there?

This was a sensitive and delectably sweet poem. It reminds me of the conversations between my wife and me. When we were thousands of miles of shitty telephone connections away from each other. Nikos Kazantzakis wrote in Zorba the Greek, "Boss, the greatest sin is that a woman sleeps alone when she doesn't want to." I have spent much of my younger life keeping myself from committing that sin. Great work!!!!
