TW: suicide mentioned.
A poem about a true story of when I was in eighth grade, a boy took his own life from bullying, and my school's awful way of handling it.

I never really knew your face or name

I never really knew your face or name nor those people who put you to shame

Notes: In eighth grade, a boy I didn't really know in the same grade took his own life due to bullying.

My school did NOT handle it well. The new principal that came that year resigned two days later, and they didn't allow us to speak about it or even his name.

The bullying problem obviously wasn't solved. People wrote his name on rocks and put them in front of the school sign and they painted it over white.

Sure, they did talk about signs of depression and suicide, but I believe they could have done a much better job at addressing the situation and allowing students to mourn.

Colored roses were his favorite flower. And I hope this story raises some awareness and in the future should it happen again, schools can do the appropriate action.
