slamming doors

by lexi

a two week’s notice

that i no longer belong in your life and i am resigning

because there are many somedays

filled of stuffy taxi cabs, dreading Thursdays

torn post-it notes noisy elevators, reuniting at airports

lipstick stains on cheeks, tedious birthday parties

that remind me we are getting older older older

buying my first defective apartment, repainting over walls

hundreds of soon-to-be lost pencils and

strangers with pretty black fur coats and

mediocre weddings, running mascara

filling our bodies with cold coffee and ignorance

forgetting your keys, meeting overly-cocky boys

who criticize your poems

badly laughable haircuts, slamming doors

broken refrigerators, buying picture frames and

putting new people inside them.

a two week’s notice that henceforth my somedays are booked

and there’s no room for you anymore
