i think that night my throat was swimming with

stars and lighter fluid

with winter in my bones

and bleach and mercury on my tongue

and, i think

there was something black seeping into my bloodstream

and it had been a long time since

i had felt electricity pulsing in my chest

but of course, if anyone

it was always you

to show me the difference between the color of the sky

and the color blue
