Their relationship was an interesting one for lack of a better word. She was his champion, his savior on several occasions and therefore one of the few he entrusted with matters of trade and state. Of course her looks had a bit to do with that. He knew her skill set all too well: take advantage of those that think she is just a pretty face.
Obviously this meant she was sent all over securing trade agreements, meeting with foreign dignitaries, and protecting Emeric’s interest within the Covenant and beyond. Sybella had her own secrets though. Her life did not belong to Emeric though many thought as much.
She served him well because it benefited her in more ways than one. It helped her own company therefore increased her wealth. She traveled and met all sorts of intriguing people and last and most importantly it kept people distracted from her other....hobbies.
Surprisingly being the King’s mistress and chief diplomat gave her some freedom and privacy. No one found her absence from court strange so when she disappeared off to the Gold Coast there was no one prying in her affairs. She had her own ship and loyal captain that worked exclusively for her so no one could trace her activity by seeing where she had traveled.
Lady Sybella, other than having a massive villa in the Coast for herself and her companions to hide away in, had another reason to journey there so often. The Dark Brotherhood.
She was known there as simply the Lady, and her official title was that of Executioner, the only person who could read the Litany of Blood: the word of Sithis himself. Yes, she held many secrets in her twisted heart but her love of killing was the greatest. Still she only killed who she was instructed too...most of the time. When the need arose or a deal went sour then she did not hesitate to use the Blade of Woe.
After all the Dread Father welcomed everyone to the Void. Sybella was always careful though. She knew the risks of exposure and she had sacrificed too much to let careless killing unravel the well woven tapestry she had made out of her life. She kept her identities as separate as she could. Emeric would never suspect his beloved of being an assassin.
The castle was in her view now. In some ways she was looking forward to seeing him. Emeric adored her. He was charming and he doted upon her granting her every whim. She rewarded him well for his kindness. They had been together for many years and people where so often surprised that finally one woman kept his interest.
Sybella never cared if he flirted or had affairs with other women. They both knew she took whomever she desired though they never spoke of it. She was his once she stepped foot in that castle and that was all he cared about. A page boy helped her out of the carriage and she headed straight for Emeric’s room. It didn’t matter if he was there. Her presence would be welcome either way.
Several members of the court bowed as she entered, most gave her a sideways glance. All of which she ignored. When she entered he was relaxing by his grand fireplace with his head buried in a book. She took a few steps and gave a sigh of comfort as she let down her hair. His eyes shot up immediately.
“My love.” He said, his voice full of longing. It had been a while for her as well and she looked forward to the frivolities that were about to take place. He was a fantastic lover. A King who enjoyed not being king when she was in his bed. That was where she was in command. “I missed you.” He buried his face into her neck.
“Perhaps if you stopped sending me away so much.” She teased as she turned from him. “But the kingdom would fall apart without me.” Emeric’s fingers began to unlace her dress. “As I have in your absence.” His touch was soft as he held her close and kissed the back of her shoulder.
After undressing each other, their lips finally met. He kissed her hard and she remembered why they had been together so long. Together they were intoxicating. She pulled away and pushed him onto the bed. “Shall we begin?” She said with her wicked smile.
