Childhood Nightmares

I miss those days when I was little.

Pulling out my Nintendo 64 with a big smile.

As the start screen plays the nostalgic music.

To be honest, I wasn't very good at combat.

But I couldn't wait to adventure.

I couldn't wait to experience the emotions of the story.

I've watched my brother play this game a million times and now I'm going to play it myself.

But one thing I wish could change...

Is that I wouldn't be so scared of the overworld monsters.

One reason why I was so bad at combat was because I was scared of how these monsters looked.

Looking back, they just look like a polygon moving. But when I was little, I refused to continue forward... In fear of those monsters.

And I regret that.

Because now, I'm older. I'm not scared of those monsters anymore.

But it's not the same. I don't have the same excitement I used to have.

I don't even have enough time on my hands to just sit and play video games.

And last of all... I know how the game ends.

I've watched my brother play this so many times so of course I know this video game like the back of my hand.

I know what would happen next. I know which moves I had to do.

So, it wasn't like I experienced this video game like a whole new world.

And I wish I did.
