How it feels to have someone you're still in love with, break up with you.

Promises

She woke up that morning,

with sunshine in her hair,

ignorant,

so blissfully unaware,

after all it was

a regular day.

So she waited,

to hear your voice,

get a message,

anything at all,

the minutes turned to hours,

hours turned to days,

two days

she counted,

but didn't know why.

She didn't want to

know

why.

You hadn't called.

Finally, your voice on the phone

somehow made her

feel more alone,

the lights were on,

but no one is home.

You told her you were

leaving

she couldn't stop her desperate pleading.

You said "I can't help it"

you couldn't help her,

so you left her for dead,

instead.
