Kalia lives in a small town in a small house. Her house has five bedrooms and each of them can fit at least two twin bunk beds without touching each other.
Her town is small and only holds about 200,000, maybe 300,000 people, on a good day. She's very shy and speaks only when spoken to. She wears gray shirts with tight black shorts.
She wears large underwear from Hong Kong's "Ladies' Market" that her grandmother got her one year. That year was about three years ago.
"OOoooo" Kalia said when her grandmother handed her the pile of very, very large underwear. "Danku pau pau" she said through her twisted mouth.
Kalia walks to school because she lives very close to her school. Her school is big and open, like a cattle ranch.
At breaks students are let out of the school buildings like a fire ant colony that just got stepped on by school children.
The kids spread like microwaved honey in all directions as some teachers spread slowly in the same direction like room temperature coconut oil.
Kalia used to play tetherball, but now she's too tall for the poles so she doesn't play anymore. She's much older now, that's why she is starting to wear smaller underwear too.
Riding a bike is a required task that children in places with roads are required to do eventually. Kalia didn't like bikes when she first saw them.
She thought most things that involved the outdoors seemed unnecessary and dangerous. She once played frisbee with her mother and her mother threw the frisbee at her face.
Biking wasn't necessary when Kalia was little. Her mother's bike let a small car attach itself to her bike. It was yellow and blue. The bike is also yellow and blue.
Kalia actually liked pink, but eventually her mother convinced her to like blue.
Today Kalia is much bigger. She wouldn't fit into the small car that attaches to the blue and yellow bike anymore.
She's so big that even if you cut her in half her top half wouldn't fit into the small car neatly. If you put her bottom half in the small car you would have to stick her feet out.
Kalia is now considered one of the biggest people in her world because there is a very small person that lives in her house who showed up a few years ago.
I was able to sneak into the house for a few minutes and this is the interaction that I heard that is scheduled for every half hour:
After that exchange, it repeated seven more times and my recording device ran out of batteries. I realized I needed to return on another day to capture more of these intricate conversations.
I left a few hours ago, I plan to return in a day or two after I'm done washing my small underwear.
