We're all here on borrowed time.

January 15th

by kaylynn

This day, 3 years ago, changed my life.

I lost a very close friend. He was my dog, Pico. He was going to be six in February, but unfortunately, I lost him before then. Yes, he was a dog, but he was my family.

I don't expect you to understand.

I do want you to listen to my message though.

Pico was diagnosed with cancer about three months prior.

On my birthday to be exact. It's a lengthy story, but the bottom line is he was on borrowed time. Which really got me thinking.

Death is not something we should fear.

We are all on borrowed time. So with that time, we should use it wisely and make something of ourselves. Pico taught me compassion and responsibility. He was the best companion I could ask for.

I've decided to do something with my time.

To not be fearless, but to face my fears. Because it takes more courage to face fear than to say you have none. I will change people's lives, just as Pico did for me. I'll make myself proud.

My challenge to those who are reading,

is what will you do with your borrowed time?

This was very thought provoking. I am doing the same thing you are. My dog died on Aug. 17, 2015. She was my little angel. We were together for 23 years. That she died first was a blessing because she doesn't have to mourn my death. Great post!!!!
