On February 7th, It was 5 am and I woke up to use the bathroom. I happened to see blood and immediately thought there was something wrong. I was not feeling any pains or anything.
I shook my mom and boyfriend to wake up. All of us drove to the hospital on super bowl day may I add. We checked in and the doctors looked to see how far I was.
They look at me and say I have to stay. This baby is going to be here today. My contractions were a minute apart and I felt nothing.... at first. All of a sudden, I feel a bit of a pain.
Then I feel a gush and paged the nurse letting them know my water broke.” I told them I needed an epidural.
They said the doctor will not be in for another hour, so I start walking while trying not to fall over. I had read on a site that exercise helps make labor go quicker.
They decide to go get breakfast and to let them know if I would need them for some reason. My mom and I were the only two left. By then Cody’s step dad was there too along with my dads mom.
I started to fall asleep but the contractions kept waking me up. The doctor gives me my shot and then says it looks like it’s time to start pushing. “What? It’s only been 5 hours.
That seems short.” I texted my dad and told them that the baby is on it’s way. They got there in time. My boyfriend looked like he was about to pass out when I delivered the placenta.
They wrapped the baby up and handed the baby over. I looked at everyone staring at me while I was half asleep. I look down at this human I have never met before. “Hello Madilyn.
” My mom and everyone else held her while I rested. A few hours pass and I am constantly being checked on all the time. I have a ton of visitors: Cody’s grandparents, my sisters and more.
I was falling asleep throughout most of it. The next few days were rough because of trying to feed her naturally but having the doctors tell me they have to give her formula too.
I was frustrated because my boyfriend had to work the next day. My mom came up on the last day I was there to stay. I had so many things that I lost small items.
It was a cold winter night and my boyfriend and I were loading up the car to go to my parents. They were not home at the time for some reason.
I could not find my key, so we went to his grandparents. I was bawling my eyes out because this was all new to me. I was doing cyber school while in the hospital.
I had four more months left to go. The first night I stayed awake all night because they had a old fashioned cradle and I thought she would hurt herself somehow.
My boyfriend slept but I could not. The next few weeks were an adjustment for my mental health and body as well. I had a ton of help especially the first few weeks.
I was in so much pain doing the natural feeding that I had to stop.
During my class one day, I even fell asleep during home room (the only time I had to go on at a certain time early in the morning).
The teacher was calling my name so I apologized “for the WiFi being out.” My daughter starts hitting milestones such as tummy time, cooing and smiling. I was so happy I got to watch it all.
I had a counselor from my school come to visit me and we had applied for community college for me. In June, I graduated high school. My boyfriend stayed home to watch the baby.
When I seen all of my old friends, I felt very awkward and embarrassed in a way. This girl behind me said to walk faster, I was wearing heels which I normally would not wear.
I had been accepted into community college so I was planning to go there in the fall.
*** I will be having a story about my college experience up as soon as I can***
