"knowing the limits of
my mortality,
I traded wings for ink."

Just a little bird

you drew me like a tattoo;

I was your little bird, birthed

during a dream,

sheltered by your eyelids.

I found confidence and

transported to your lips,

until you fluttered back

to life,

believing in love again.

spring would

eventually, leave us,

so, I descended,

singing arias down

your spine then

resting on your right heel.

knowing the limits of

my mortality,

I traded wings for ink.

some days, I feel

you warm my lungs,

though

I've lost my way to you.
