The Great War – recollections from the Zion Chronicles

My name is Reva. I am a rainmaker. I survived the Great War.

That day started like any other day here in Zion. I was heading over to my post to release rain for Cancri, Pegasi, and Earth.

I was not in a particular hurry that day, because there were only three worlds on my schedule.

In fact, I stopped at one of the rainbows coming out of the clouds and played with the colors just for fun.

You know how they sparkle when the colors are mixed just right?

I loved doing that.

It happened as I approached my post. Seemingly out of nowhere, a sharp wind blew me away.

I couldn’t see clearly. A tornado of darkness broke through the clouds.

I couldn’t make out what happened. I heard screams.

I think I saw spirits evaporating as the tornado torn through the clouds.

But I couldn’t see. I was tossed through the skies.

By the time I woke up, I was miles away.

I couldn’t be sure how I got there. Did the wind knocked me out and somehow blew me there?

I found out later that I was unconscious on the ground there for 10 days. 10 days…

If I didn’t stop at a rainbow, I probably would have been caught in the tornado…
