Forgotten

This is dedicated to my great grandparents. They were diagnosed with dementia. They taught me a lot about life. I know they will never see this. But I don't want them to.

I know I'm not the best poet in the world. So try not to hate.

The news was overwhelming

It put me on edge

I should've seen it coming

After all, it wasn't that farfetched

I've learned to watch the stars

To see what they believe

But you will always live with me in harmony

I know you still love me

Your mind is just forgetful

And I know I still love you

It's just hard

I haven't had the easiest life

So, in a way, that prepared me for this

But now your mind has forgotten me

I know I'm still there

Somewhere in your heart

And I know you're not gone

But it still hurts

You've forgotten my little sister

And you can't remember my name

But you once told me that blue was my favorite color

So I guess it will be okay

I just want you to know

That although you've forgotten me

You will forever live on in my memory

No matter what you think

I haven't forgotten you

It's just hard for me to visit

When I know you might leave soon
