It's 3:33 am.
And I'm awake.
I turn over in the hopes I can escape this fate.
My mind is still there.
Mercilessly poking holes in my peace.
The air is thick with my fear now.
In the distance I hear a sound.
It gets louder yet less familiar.
I curl up tighter and tighter under my covers.
Suddenly, the sound is right next to my ear.
My panic freezes me to my bed.
The seconds seem to last an eternity.
I hold my breath.
My heart drumming out my sanity.
Yes, something just touched my leg!
Unable to control my reflexes I jolt up.
The light from my lamp drowns out all unknown.
And there, looking rather peeved, is my cat.
