I asked her if she was joking. her frown told me she wasn't.
"Every last penny is gone," She said.
And that's not the worst of it," she continues eating across the table.
"I spent the rest on drugs. I know you knew nothing about this but you see,
That craving I mentioned to you earlier in our relationships was not for a rush.
I've been addicted for a while but I kept it from you so that you wouldn't leave me.
I was afraid of what I might do to myself If I felt I wasn't worthy of anyone.
I will promise to pay you back in full PLUS INTEREST!
I'm in debt to you now.
I spent your life savings on my addiction but that's what a rush does to you.
It only keeps you thinking in the short term."
"Hey, listen it's not about you using my money Its the honesty I expect you to have in this relationship
I thought you would speak to me about these things.
Yes, I am upset I lost my life savings In a few days of course!
But your life is more important..
You will pay back every penny but I won't hate you for it."
Moral of the story:
Moral of the story: Honesty is more valuable than Gold and purer than diamonds.
Drug addiction is real and I've experienced having someone in my family suffer from a severe drug addiction. I've also seen the affects it can have on their relationship with their loved ones. It truly is a struggle.
Thank God he is recovering now and turning things around in his life.
If you or someone you know struggles with a drug addiction of any kind, I pray that the God who sits on the throne, Jesus Christ, Comes down on your behalf to set them free from any bondage from drugs in Jesus Name!
