The door cracked open and the warmth was gone.

Morning Twilight

The light blistered the sea

The wind savaged the land

The trees growled in anger

The birds cowered in their cover

She hid under her bed

covering her ears to drown out the screaming echoing through her door

Soon the harsh light of the moon drifted away

The wind became shallow

The trees forgot to growl

The birds chirped warily

She crawled out from under her bed

The morning twilight bathed her with warmth

the door cracked open

and the warmth

was gone.
