He sent me a song about love letters. I lie on my pillow of feathers,

Does a Poet Believe in Magic?

He sent me a song about love letters.

I lie on my pillow of feathers,

While my phone sits cuddled next to my ear.

My eyelids slowly close

as the beats pulse through my mind.

The words balance on the tip of my tongue.

While I skip my feet and smile at night,

I hold my childhood close in sight.

Always curious of feelings and emotions..

The entire concept of communication seemed like an ocean-

Wide and deep and mysterious-

95% undiscovered.

My thumbs race back and forth

Trying to keep up with his never ending mind,

I've never met someone

who so easily forgets

how much his life rhymes.

In the eyes of a poet-

his eyes are magic.

They observe the world in precise detail.

The color of ancient soil and deathly brick.

I am entranced.

In the eyes of a poet-

his smile is the sun.

Its rays beam down and cover the earth,

Introducing foreign happiness and contagious laughter.

It is vital to all life-

Especially mine.

In the eyes of a poet-

he is immortal.

The fountain in his mind never slowing down,

Replacing every sound

with constant flowing water.

With his shared thoughts,

I know he will never die.

In the eyes of me-

he is the universe.

Containing thousands of

planets and stars.

When my eyes meet his, my sight is flooded with pure

beauty and peace.

And this makes me believe in magic.
