I look at the man before me His eyes dark and daring His mouth gray and grimacing His teeth gritting and grinding His brows taut and tensing

I look at the man before me
His eyes dark and daring
His mouth gray and grimacing
His teeth gritting and grinding
His brows taut and tensing

A poem about a man who has to learn to love himself

I look at the man before me His eyes dark and daring His mouth gray and grimacing His teeth gritting and grinding His brows taut and tensing

I look at the man before me His expression cold His rage burning hot His blood pumping fast His movements slow

I look at the man before me Only to see Him return the stare Neither of us flee But rather stay there

I look at the man before me My instincts tell me to attack My feet ordering me to run My fists begging me to punch My mind asking me to forgive

I look at the man before me With a heavy heart With regret in each eye With pity in my mind With sadness in my sorry soul

I look at the man before me Our expressions the exact same Our hearts equally dismantled Our will to exist depleting Our strength beginning to give way

I look at the man before me Starting to understand That the man in the mirror Deserves to live another day Not my undying hate
