They left the coffee shop and all the lights were on, eliminating the darkness of the night.
"We won't be able to find a ride for tonight, so we'll have to find shelter till the morning" Glinda was starting to shiver "Well okay, but let's do it fast,
I don't want to be robbed or attacked by any street dwellers" Elphaba giggled but kept it together "One sight of this green gal and it'll send them running in every direction" Glinda gave her
a little shove and followed behind her up the street. As they walked it seemed to be getting darker and more into the bad part of town.
"Elphie I don't know, I have a bad feeling about this" As she finished a creepy man came from a nearby alley and confronted the two somewhat helpless girls.
"Well what are a couple of dames doing out at this time of night" Not realizing until he stepped more into the light that Elphaba was green, he shot her a strange glance.
"Green huh? Never had that before, but I'm willing to try something new." He said approaching them a little closer.
"Listen, we're looking for somewhere to stay tonight, is there an inn nearby?" Glinda said disregarding his last comment. "Well why don't you come stay with me? I could really use the company."
Elphaba now guarding Glinda stepped forward. "We don't want to intrude, now please tell us where we can find the nearest inn."
The man didn't take to kindly to Elphabas approach, but guided them to the nearest inn anyway.
"So" Still trying to make conversation with the girls "Why are you out here all by yourself?" "Well we-" "No reason" Elphaba interjected. Grabbed some coffees and lost track of time."
He looked at Glinda, then back at Elphaba. "Well those must have been some good coffees."
They finally approached the inn, and they could not have been any happier. "Well here we are, you know I'd like-" "Whats your name?" Elphaba interrupted again.
"Uh, its Nick" "Do you have a family? Wife? Kids?"
He seemed rattled "Yes, I mean, well" Elphaba now guiding Glinda towards the inn entrance "Well how about instead of trying to pick up two 'helpless' girls, who want nothing to do with you,
at all, and return at once to your beloved family?" She then followed behind Glinda and didn't even turn around to see if he would follow, which he did not.
"You didn't have to be so ruthless" Glinda preached "Oh boo"
As the girls settled, Glinda couldn't help but toss and turn. "Elphie, I'm honestly still in shock you agreed to this with me" she fluffed her pillow and turned towards her.
"I thought maybe....
maybe you would agree but last minute disappear on me, off into the night." Elphie stared at her, it did cross her mind, but if Glinda mentioned it then she must have known she would.
"I'm good for my word, now get some sleep, we have an early morning" she gave a tired smile and whipped her body towards the pale walls of the 5/10 Inn.
"I'm just wondering" Glinda went on "What if they don't agree to come, Nessarose and Nanny? What if they hear us out and just think we're crazy, or that it would be best to stay?"
Glinda cuddled up close to Elphaba "You know, it would be so easy to just throw her over our shoulders and go you know,
seeing as she has no arms" Elphie laughed at Glindas dark version of a quick fix solution. "Even so, I'm good with my word" she said now turning to her, "You have to be good on yours too."
Glinda let out a pout and nodded in agreement. "Fine, but I'm going to make sure they know our way is best!" And with that last remark, she turned her head with a smile and nodded off to bed.
"Goodnight Elphie" "Goodnight Glinda, the rebel." She laughed and began to doze off.
