We live in a society where social media takes control of people's minds.
If you look around, you won't see people talking, you'll see them on their phone, scrolling down on Facebook or Instagram. No talking, just scrolling.
Maybe even posting pictures of their happy-self and write how beautiful and perfect their lives are.
But guess what? People put a mask on when they leave their house - feeling overwhelmed and afraid of being judged by society.
And do you know why? Because society puts pressure on them - always fake a smile, be skinny, have perfect skin, have the best clothing, the latest cell phone, expensive cars and so on.
Let's not forget how social media "kills" people. Let's not forget how one arrives home and takes his/her mask off; feeling empty, scared, lonely.
It makes people anxious, doubtful, depressed, lowers their self-esteem, cuts off boundaries, alters one personality,
allows online bullying - this is the dark side of the internet that no one talks about.
No one talks about how social media affects their mental health; most people are ashamed of their life because it's not perfect as it "should" be, or not as perfect as it is online.
People hide behind that mask I was telling you before. They hide everything.
And while you've been reading this, you came to realize that you can relate, society changed you too.
And now you're asking yourself, can all this damage be undone? My answer is yes, it can - "You're always one decision away from a totally different life".
I hope you find the strength to be brave and most importantly - to be yourself.
Here's a painting I made a year ago about what society means to me :
