A poem for the ones who have gone but never really left. xx

the call

the ground swallowed you up whole

the ground swallowed you up whole told me it's easier to forget.

my poem sings in praise of you

my poem sings in praise of you but the heart takes time to come round

this tongue loads up heavy

this tongue loads up heavy and almost loses itself in the midst

names take longer to smother.

what did i know of drowning in you

what did i know of drowning in you what did i know of the time after

let this slip into a stranger's image

let this slip into a stranger's image god,

let this slip into a stranger's image god, lest i forget

i breathe into cupped hands

i breathe into cupped hands waiting for a ringing in my ear.

si vis amari, ama.

Thank you for reading x The last phrase is Latin for 'If you want to be loved, love'.
