A poem about the Fey and a chance encounter... about prompt: summer haze. :D

Flowers In My Hair

Even the evening sun had given up and sat low,

Even the evening sun had given up and sat low, Head in her hands, as I trudged silently up the hill.

Even the evening sun had given up and sat low, Head in her hands, as I trudged silently up the hill. All the while, tears threatened to tear at my face,

Even the evening sun had given up and sat low, Head in her hands, as I trudged silently up the hill. All the while, tears threatened to tear at my face, As I left the city hustle and bustle behind.

Sinking low, I melted into the mud, tears tore,

Sinking low, I melted into the mud, tears tore, But a glimmer... or maybe a shimmer caught my eye.

Sinking low, I melted into the mud, tears tore, But a glimmer... or maybe a shimmer caught my eye. Raising my head, disbelief was a bitter swallow,

Sinking low, I melted into the mud, tears tore, But a glimmer... or maybe a shimmer caught my eye. Raising my head, disbelief was a bitter swallow, As my eyes landed upon a... woman.

Upon the cavorting shadow of the moon,

Upon the cavorting shadow of the moon, Her eyes were molten steel, then onyx,

Upon the cavorting shadow of the moon, Her eyes were molten steel, then onyx, Hints of amber undertone with a dash of green.

Upon the cavorting shadow of the moon, Her eyes were molten steel, then onyx, Hints of amber undertone with a dash of green. They were comfort.

Upon the cavorting shadow of the moon, Her eyes were molten steel, then onyx, Hints of amber undertone with a dash of green. They were comfort. They were understanding.

Pulled into her arms, I softened, unleashed the tears,

Pulled into her arms, I softened, unleashed the tears, As she began to sing her lullaby.

Pulled into her arms, I softened, unleashed the tears, As she began to sing her lullaby. It washed over me, pulled me into slumber,

Pulled into her arms, I softened, unleashed the tears, As she began to sing her lullaby. It washed over me, pulled me into slumber, As her flowers were braided into my hair.

Pulled into her arms, I softened, unleashed the tears, As she began to sing her lullaby. It washed over me, pulled me into slumber, As her flowers were braided into my hair. I woke with a start, to find an empty field...

... Thanks for reading! :D
