The next morning was back normal, or at least as normal as it could be with everything that has happened the past couple of weeks.
I walked into my office, and put my things away before walking into Jungkook’s office and set his coffee down on his desk.
He wasn’t in yet, which was unusual but then again everyone had their late days. I was about to walk away when I remembered something.
I walked behind Jungkook’s desk and opened one of the drawers. I peered in to find my torn lace panties sitting on top of what looked like a snack stash.
“Sneaking into my snack stash?” I heard Jungkook’s familiar voice.
My head snapped up as I slammed the drawer shut. He stood in the doorway to my office with a smile on his lips.
“N-no, I was just checking…” My voice trailed off as Jungkook walked over to his closet. I felt my face redden, remembering the weekend that I had with Jungkook.
I quickly shook the thoughts from my head. “I’ll go back to my office.” I murmured, and then I shuffled to my office.
“Miss Bennett?” I heard Jungkook say.
“Yes?” I said as I turned to look at him.
Jungkook was still smiling as he looked at me. “Good morning.”
I gave him a little smile, knowing he was going into work mode as soon as he said that. It was like his signal for when he was switching personalities. “Good morning, Sir.
” I said with a little nod before I walked back into my office.
I had completely adjusted to the new routine at work now, with the exceptions of Jungkook throwing me a few curveballs here and there.
Every morning Jungkook said ‘Good morning’, and once everyone left from work, he said ‘Good evening’ to let me know he was out of work mode.
We worked a few extra hours during the week, but we went home as soon as we were finished.
Jungkook seemed to know how important sleep was to me, so he didn’t keep me around any longer than I needed to be.
Yoongi had returned on Tuesday night, but he didn’t talk much about the interview me had. I thought maybe it hadn’t gone well, so I didn’t press him any further.
The week passed without any major incidents, and on Friday I made sure that I packed a dress for the evening, and some extra clothes just in case I spent the night with Jungkook again.
The evening rolled around, and Jungkook and I walked out of the building arm-in-arm and climbed into the car.
He had made reservations earlier in the day to a Japanese restaurant and managed to get a much earlier reservation for us.
“I’m glad we have an earlier reservation this week.” I said as I looked over at Jungkook. “I’m starving.”
Jungkook’s arm wrapped around my waist and he pulled me close to him. “Don’t eat too much.” He said, giving me a quick kiss on the lips. “Make sure you save room for dessert.”
“That depends on what’s for dessert.” I said, sliding my hand up Jungkook’s thigh. “I’m craving some hot, melted chocolate tonight.”
Jungkook smiled, keeping his face close to mine. “I’ll see what I can do.” He said before pressing his lips against mine.
Our lips were locked for the rest of the car ride to the restaurant. I was glad I didn’t put my lipstick on yet because otherwise it would be all over Jungkook’s mouth.
When the car stopped and shut off, we untangled ourselves from each other, and our lips parted. I quickly put on my lipstick as the driver waled around the car and opened the door for us.
Jungkook got out, holding his hand out for me. I put my lipstick and mirror back into my small purse and then slid out of the car, holding Jungkook’s hand as my heels hit the pavement.
We walked into the restaurant hand-in-hand, and we were seated at our reserved table right away.
“It feels so much nicer to have underwear on this time.” I said quietly, picking up the menu and looking at the food options.
“I preferred you without the underwear.” He said as I saw him pick up his menu to read it.
“Oh, so you like it when I’m uncomfortable?” I asked, not taking my eyes off the menu.
“You’re much more interesting when I make you uncomfortable.” Jungkook said. “Not to mention you look sexier when I know you’re not wearing anything under your dress.”
I didn’t get the chance to say anything before our waitress came over to take our drink orders. After ordering our drinks, we sat in silence for a minute, looking over the menu.
I finally set the menu down on the table to find Jungkook staring at me. He wasn’t staring at my face though, he was staring at my chest.
I looked down at my exposed chest to see what he was looking at, or if he was just looking for some eye candy.
The low cut of my dress revealed the fading bruises on my chest from where Jimin had bitten me.
I tried to cover them with some make-up, but it must’ve come off while our lips were locked together in the car.
It had been almost a week since he left those bruises, but there was still a little bit of discoloration from the bruises.
I picked up the menu that I had just set down and quickly covered the exposed bruises.
I knew I shouldn’t have worn this dress,
but the pink and white flower print that covered the dress reminded me of Japanese cherry blossoms and I knew we were going to a Japanese restaurant today.
I could feel my face redden, but I was glad that the make-up covered it up. I noticed the hint of anger in his eyes as he looked up at me. I looked down, unsure of what to say.
We sat there in awkward silence as the waitress placed our drinks on the table in front of us. We ordered our food, and the waitress took our menus away.
I was left with nothing to cover my chest now. I just put my elbows on the table and tried to cover my chest as much as possible.
It was difficult to look at Jungkook now, so I just looked down at the drink in front of me.
Jungkook’s arm extended over the table and he grabbed my arm. I didn’t want to move it, but then his other hand grabbed my other arm and he pulled them apart.
I knew it was stupid to try and cover myself again, so I let my arms fall to my side.
“Ari.” Jungkook said in a warning voice. “Look at me.”
I didn’t want to. I was embarrassed and I didn’t want to explain what happened, but I found myself looking up into Jungkook’s dark eyes.
“Are those from your ex?” he asked, nodding toward the bruises on my chest. I looked down, but Jungkook raised his voice a little bit. “Ari! Look at me.”
My head snapped back up, and I could feel his eyes burning into mine, waiting for my answer. I slowly nodded, and I swallowed before I finally spoke in a quiet voice.
“He noticed the small bruises you left on my neck. He didn’t believe me when I tried to lie to him, so he knows about us. I’m sorry.
” I sighed, feeling horrible for spilling our secret when Jungkook told me not to. “I made him promise me to never tell anyone.
He knows what it’ll do to the company, and he knows how important the company is to me, so he won’t tell anyone. He’s good with his promises.”
I could tell as I spoke that the anger in Jungkook’s eyes grew with each word I said. Even as I tried to explain myself, the anger never left his eyes.
I felt like I was being burned alive in my chair. I lowered my head again and looked at my untouched drink.
I took a deep breath, holding back the tears that I could feel were trying to break free and roll down my cheeks.
“I don’t care if he’s good with his promises.” Jungkook said, the anger clear in his voice.
“I know you still have feelings for him, but for the sake of your job and the company, I suggest you stop seeing him.”
Who was he to tell me who to see and who not to see? There was a moment when I wanted to just get up and leave, but I thought about what he said.
Although Jimin always made good on his promises, he was the kind of person to use a secret to get what he wanted.
I wouldn’t be surprised if he tried to blackmail Jungkook if he ever got angry enough with him or myself. I didn’t like Jungkook’s suggestion, but I could understand where he was coming from.
I just nodded again, staring blankly at the drink on the table. “I’m sorry.” I said quietly, feeling defeated.
“And don’t ever let him mark you like that again. He’s clearly not over you yet, and I don’t want him to distract you from your job.
” Jungkook’s voice was a little bit softer this time, but I could tell that he was still upset with me.
I suddenly lost my appetite with the guilt that now took hold of me. I just wanted to walk out of the restaurant and walk to nowhere until I couldn’t walk anymore.
I still fought back the tears, not wanting to start a scene in the fancy restaurant. It was my fault. I made this happen because I couldn’t let Jimin go, and now I would have to pay the price.
I couldn’t look back up at Jungkook, not even as our food was set in front of us. I felt numb, and my body didn’t move even as the beautifully decorated plate sat in front of me.
