some things aren't meant forever...

until the next sunrise.

the sun held

the sun held more warmth that day

the sun held more warmth that day,

sprouting between the blue nests of the clouds,

sprouting between the blue nests of the clouds, it traced the fields

sprouting between the blue nests of the clouds, it traced the fields into hues of lemon

i saw,

i saw, how your breath stumbled,

with each sunbeam

with each sunbeam that slipped between your fingers,

as you cradled the sunflowers in your embrace,

and with each golden drop of sweat

and with each golden drop of sweat that glided down your face,

these yellow fields

these yellow fields thumped a beat,

these yellow fields thumped a beat, for they have always admired you

but it wasn't easy

but it wasn't easy to hide my desperation,

that bloomed with each passing second,

for we both knew,

for we both knew, what fate had for us,

"everything will be alright"

"everything will be alright" you had said,

if only,

if only, words said were always true

your clouded eyes

your clouded eyes reflected my thunder-drenched fears,

and how we knew

and how we knew it's your end,

and how we knew it's our end,

and how we knew it's our end, which is near,

you handed me the sunflowers,

you handed me the sunflowers, how pretty were they,

but after a moment

you fall

you collapse

onto the amber ground,

onto the amber ground, but your smile

onto the amber ground, but your smile stayed

if forever was ever a word,

if forever was ever a word, i'll hold onto our memories till eternity,

i'll await your return,

clasping these sunflowers,

clasping these sunflowers, until the next sunrise

until the next sunrise.
