A poem about the harrowing sadness someone might feel consumed by. Been feeling poetry-y lately :))

Falling in the abyss

The surface, a calm, rippling sheet of perfectly thin glass

The surface, a calm, rippling sheet of perfectly thin glass ready to break, to shatter, swallow whole. Those who fall beneath surface are never found a g a i n.

And endless falling, surrounded by nothing, a stabbing black void is all you see. wrapped in the screaming dephths of nothingness, where your voice is lost in the deafening sea.

Once it was shallow, Once it was blue, There once was a place for me and for y o u

Once it was shallow, Once it was blue, There once was a place for me and for y o u once it was turquiose A place full of life, but now we are bait for the waves' sharpened knives.

Fall beneath the black, until you hit the ground. The sand here is cold, the void has no sound, A place so hollow it feels like your heart, A place of toxic ink, of a cage made from your own despair.

The key's been thrown, you're squeezed in your own trap, bars of steel that always hold you back, iron made of your hate, padlock made of denial, Guilty or innocent? There will never be a trial..

There's no way out. What direction is up? Away from your shattered hopes, No glow of chance, no life line to guide you, from this place of darkness where nothing is here.

Once it was shallow, Once it was blue, There once was a place for me and for y o u

But.. you let yourself get swallowed by your own fate, You're blinded by your own darkness, drowned in your mistakes, Like the silent torture of the infinite night, Whilst you willingly, Fall in the abyss, with no end in sight.
