The pain and hurt flooded her body as she awoke but what had happened in the arguement the night before?

The Final Arguement

by gemma2212

She had always been told "Never let the sun go down on an arguement". But she had and now it was morning.

She had been so angry. With him. How could he do that to her? How could he hurt her so badly?

Her brain spun and her thoughts crashed against each other as the realisation of what had happened last night began to invade her waking body.

She tried to recall the whole Arguement. What had been said.

But it was useless. She couldn't remember. All she remembered was the hurt. The crack as her heart splintered into a thousand pieces. The anger that swelled inside her. How could he hurt her?

She rolled over onto his side of the bed. It was empty. She stroked the cold sheet and stared at their wedding photo on the bedside table. Together forever. Happy. Had it been a lie?

Fury coursed through her veins. The words he had released entered her mind and echoed. "I am leaving you, I have met someone else,". And that was it.

She sat up and blinked at the light streaming in through the curtains. She couldn't remember what else had been said. She remembered crying. She remembered screaming. She remembered the hurt.

She got up from the bed and walked to the staircase. Had he gone? Had he left? She blinked her eyes, her head throbbed. She couldn't remember. She began to descend down the staircase.

She reached the foot of the staircase and stopped. What had she said? She rubbed her face, her hands felt rough and gritty. She shook her head and walked into the Living Room.

The sun poured in through the window and she looked across at the sofa. He was there! He hadn't left! She felt a knot begin to untwist in her stomach. Why couldn't she remember?

She began to walk over to the sofa. What did she say to him?

"You can't leave! I won't let you go!" That was it. She remembered. She had screamed it so loud that her throat hurt.

The anger and fear began to dissipate with each step. He had stayed. She had told him she wouldn't let him go and he had stayed. She felt her heart beat hard in her chest as she approached him.

A tear ran down her face and she reached her arm forward to touch his head. "I won't let you go," she said quietly and placed her hand gently in his hair.

She smiled as she felt his smooth hair in her hand, she was just about to reach forward to kiss him when she caught a glimpse of her face in the mirror above the mantle. She squinted.

She removed her hand and touched the smear of red across her face. She froze as she noticed that her hand was also covered in a dry dark red substance. She opened her mouth to scream. Silence.

The room began to spin. She blinked and stared at him. He hadn't moved. She slowly walked to the front of the sofa. Her body shook as she took in the sight and her memory returned....

"I won't let you go!" She screamed at him. His eyes widened with fear as he saw what was in her hand. He grabbed at her arm and missed. He yelled in pain as she stabbed him in the chest.

She crumpled to the floor as she stared at his lifeless body. She reached forward and cupped his face in her hands. "I won't let you go," she whispered and closed her eyes.
