INSOMNIA

It hit me when I was sixteen

Felt like the time had stilled

It was hard to keep my eyes open

But easier than falling asleep

Those nights were harder than you would imagine

I knew I was drowning in my own thoughts

Did a lot to kill time

Not much hope

Facing daylight was a disaster

Tried to hide the remains of my sleepless nights

Started new mornings with a lack of meals

Greeted acquaintances with a pale face and tired eyes

I knew I would never fall asleep again, alone.
