Hillside

It was a sweet night

I remember it with love

I remember the wind coming into my ear from his mouth

I remember his spread legs

I remember his smiles, the music, that song, the dancing

June's unfamiliar, sudden cold

The moments lingering in that field

The branch he snapped from the tree

Climbing it like a monkey

The slash against the back of my knees

Him following me home

Then came wonders and atrocities

Unimaginable twists and dead-ends and some fulfillments

But a tiny part of the small of my back was left in that cold June

Shivering

It was a sweet night

I remember it with love
