I feel your warmth underneath the blanket.
You're sleeping soundly so I synchronize your breathing with mine.
And I'm left breathless.
You've never looked so at peace as I place my palm on your stubbled face.
I feel your smooth skin against my callus sole.
It reminded me to thank you in gentle whispers.
I close my eyes and try to sleep for the third time.
But my mind is racing.
With unshared thoughts and unwanted contemplations.
I turn to you.
And study your face instead.
