Original Poem by Felix Ebanks

Parched

I’ve been wandering the desert for far too long: hot air fills my lungs

The road split two ways and I took the wrong turn

I was running from the dark and now I’m running from the sun

But my decisions can’t be undone so the journey has begun

I’ve stopped counting the days; I’ve stopped counting months

I feel like it has been years but I’m just going on a hunch

Each grain on my shoulder now weighs a ton

I’ve got a lot of burden to carry even though I’m young

Praying for a drop of water to perch upon my parched tongue
