(Chapter one of the story I'm writing. Creative criticism is highly advised since I just started writing.)
6 hours earlier... 3:40 p.m.
Renee sighs deeply as she sits on the school bus, listening to the sweet music of Toni Braxton. Once again, adolescents were messing around with her at her school.
It's no secret that Renee is bisexual, but when the word went out to the athletes, they made her life a living hell.
She didn't bother informing her parents because they weren't going to do anything at all, she just took it like a big girl.
Pretty soon, the bus passes by the house on K'Way Street. It was a massive mansion with steel gates that had what seemed like initials on it. The house was eerie, giving off a mysterious aura.
The house was painted black and stood tall. It reminded Renee of the Addams Family, and Lord knows that they were scary.
The eyes of Renee widened when she saw someone peaking out of a window on the top floor of the building. It was a girl's silhouette.
Renee was able to tell because it was shown off by the curves. Suddenly, the girl in the window opens her eyes and looks straight into the soul of Renee.
The eyes of the female were a deep shade of orange that terrified the girl with melanin skin.
The figure turns and walks off. Renee releases a breath that she wasn't even aware of holding. The girl in the window presented her with odd vibes.
Nodding her head to the familiar beat of Another Sad Love Song by Toni Braxton, the Jamaican descent continues to stare out of the window,
her eyes scanning over the random objects outside until the bus came to a stop in front of her house.
She stands up quickly and heads down the aisle, pushing through the crowd of noisy teenagers, "Have a nice day, Mr. Jonas." Renee murmurs silently earning a smile and a wave of farewell.
Renee couldn't help but glance over at the mansion on K'Way Street as the bus ran away, "Strange ..." was all that came out of the mouth of the dread head.
Shaking her head, she slowly walks up the steps leading to her two-story home. Renee takes out her house key and unlocking the door, "Mom, dad. I'm home." She greets softly.
She sighs and throws her backpack down on the floor, realizing she wasn't going to get a reply because they were at work.
Renee huffs and walks up the stairs to her room that was at the end of the hall. She gently turns the door nob and pushes the room door open slowly.
She was greeted by the familiar scent of honey and lilac as she stepped into her room and closed the door. A note on her desk caught her attention just as she closed it.
Renee walks over to her desk and opens the message, "Your dad and I are on a date night. We have a week off of work and we're spending it together to improve our marriage.
You understand, right? See you in a week, Renee. Love, mom." She reads with a sad face.
The 16-year-old softly balls up the paper and tosses it into the trash can on the side of her bed, "Guess I'm alone." Renee mumbles.
She plops down on her bunk. Renee grins slightly when she sees the posters of famous celebrities displayed on her ceiling. From Tupac to Megan Thee Stallion. Dinah Jane to Camila Cabello.
Every single one of them, she admires. Renee sighs, shakes her head, and falls asleep in the event of an accident.
After what felt like mere minutes, Renee's eyes flutter open. On instinct, she glances over at her clock that shone 8:33 p.m.
Finding it hard to fall back to sleep, she silently sits up and takes off her shirt revealing her sports bra. Renee gets up and changes into her gym shorts easily.
The girl with dark skin picks up her phone and headphones before she walks out of her room. Renee grabs her house key and puts on her sneakers, "Maybe a slight jog will clear my head.
" She mutters as she steps out of the house. Renee puts her headphones in her ear before she plugs the jack into the phone.
Opening her Spotify app, she clicks a random playlist, she smiles slightly as she heard Dinah Jane's familiar beat of Retrograde blasted through her headphones.
Renee jogs around the block watching every car that passed by her, which didn't phase her because only a few people were out.
Suddenly, Renee slows down a little when she sees the K'Way Street Mansion. She fully stopped in front of the massive gates that guarded the mansion.
Out of the corner of Renee's eye, she saw a figure walking slowly up to the gate. Renee was shocked as she stepped into the light.
Renee found herself in a daze. The girl in front of her was a true image of beauty.
The girl kept her face feelingless, but her eyes had a touch of wonder and uncertainty, as Renee was lurking on the ground.
As confused as her eyes were, the girl asked, "Who are you?" Her voice was light, yet her tone was deep and heavy.
Then and there, Renee knew that she felt what she would call "love" at first sight. The way her skin shone in the moonlight, the way her hair was cascaded down her back. She's intoxicating.
What was a 16-year-old supposed to do in the sight of such beauty? The girl taps the gate that guarded the huge mansion twice, making it open slowly.
Renee instantly gets back as the gate opened in her direction. The fairly short girl makes her way to the taller female, "Who. Are. You?" she asks again.
