A small ray of light woke me from my not so nice sleep. I sighed and sat up on my bed, if you could even call it that.
I sat on the edge of the bed waiting for one of the nurses to come in to give me the breakfast I wouldn't touch.
I don't know why they bothered bringing me food everyday.
I lost count of how long I've here the last I can remember it was 5 months. I know it's been longer than that but I didn't see the point in keeping track anymore.
Right on que I heard keys in the lock and the door opened. A nurse I've never seen before came into the room carrying food with a smile on her face.
That smile wouldn't last long.
"Good morning Y/N."
I hadn't heard my name in so long it took me a minute before I realized she was talking to me.
"I brought your breakfast."
I glared at the nurse and then looked away.
She put the tray on the bed and left, locking the door behind her.
I glanced out the window and saw a figure in the distance.
I got up from my bed and walked to the window to get a closer look. It looked like a boy, it was hard to tell since he was so far away.
He also had a hood, goggles, and a mask that made it harder to tell.
He looked at me for a few seconds before walking into the woods.
In that moment I heard keys in the lock again and sat against the wall under the window. The nurse came back in and frowned when she saw I hadn't touched my food.
She said nothing, took the tray and left, locking the door behind her.
A few days later I learned the nurses name was Ruby.
It made me hate her even more.
I hadn't seen the boy in what I guessed was 2 weeks. I couldn't help but think about him. About where he came from. About who he was. About him taking me out of this hell hole.
Ruby came in my room to give me my dinner.
I hated how upbeat she was all the time. Didn't she realize this was an asylum for crazy people? I wanted to rip that stupid smile off her face.
She put the tray on my bed as usual and left.
I heard a faint tapping on the window and looked up from sitting with my back leaning against my bed.
It was the boy.
I looked at him from my place on the floor, not bothering to get up.
I didn't notice he had a piece of paper until he held it against the glass.
What's your name?
I got up and went to the window.
"Y/N. What's yours?"
I watched him write something on the paper and hold it to the window.
I smiled. I don't remember the last time I smiled.
Just then I heard keys in the lock.
I motioned for Toby to duck and went back to where I was sitting.
"Not eating again today?" I heard Ruby's unfortunately familiar voice ask when she came into the room. "If you don't eat I'll have no choice but to give you an IV to keep you healthy.
I don't want to do that Y/N."
I said nothing and just sat against my bed.
Ruby sighed as she took the tray and left.
I looked to the window and saw Toby looking at me. I sighed and looked down.
I heard a tap on the window and looked up.
Toby wrote on the paper again.
How long have you been here?
I shrugged and ignored him.
I don't know when I fell asleep or when he left but when I woke up he was gone.
