Pros Vs. Schmos! (Battle #1)

Helloooo everyone and welcome to the first battle of Pros vs. Schmos! Today we have two poems: from the prompt (something sad, rhyme or free verse)

The first contestant steps out into the ring.

The words begin to spew from their mouth-

The roses were in my hands

The roses were in my hands As I walked over to you

The roses were in my hands We haven't talked in years, but I hoped you'd understand As I walked over to you

The roses were in my hands We haven't talked in years, but I hoped you'd understand As I walked over to you How these decades of silence have made me blue.

We've known each other ever since our youth

Best friends until the end of time

But after a while, I felt something beyond friendship,

But after a while, I felt something beyond friendship, love,

But after a while, I felt something beyond friendship, love, how I longed to say the truth

Yet I never got the chance, that's the punishment of being shy.

I take a deep breath,

I take a deep breath, grief and anxiety

I take a deep breath, grief and anxiety hitting me like a wave,

I take a deep breath, grief and anxiety hitting me like a wave, "I love you," I tell you now,

I take a deep breath, grief and anxiety hitting me like a wave, "I love you," I tell you now, feeling brave

The expected silence greeted me,

The expected silence greeted me, so I gave you a sad smile,

The expected silence greeted me, so I gave you a sad smile, placing the roses on your grave.

What an amazing piece! But- look, the second person's stepped up to the plate- looks like they're swinging for a home run!

Tears fall

Tears fall

Tears fall

Tears fall Down my cheeks

Tears fall Down my cheeks The pain I feel could never compete

With the want to soar

With the want to soar to fly

With the want to soar to fly to dream

With the want to soar to fly to dream High above

With the want to soar to fly to dream High above everything

Not a worry not shudder

Not a worry not shudder The thunder

Not a worry not shudder The thunder would be bellow

Not a worry not shudder The thunder would be bellow The troubles would fade

Not a worry not shudder The thunder would be bellow The troubles would fade The shade

Not a worry not shudder The thunder would be bellow The troubles would fade The shade Of the nights spent

Not a worry not shudder The thunder would be bellow The troubles would fade The shade Of the nights spent Crying out

Would be outshined

Would be outshined by the glorious sun

But no matter how much I want

But no matter how much I want To fly

But no matter how much I want To fly To dream

But no matter how much I want To fly To dream To soar

But no matter how much I want To fly To dream To soar I can not do

But no matter how much I want To fly To dream To soar I can not do much more

Than to sit

Alone

And watch the sky

From the inside
