Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse: Ch. 7! (Luke)

Flashback to an hour ago...

I was walking down the halls of the castle, my head hung low, eyes burning with indignation.

How could my own mother cast me out like this?

"I'll prepare your horse for you, sir." Giovanni won't meet my eyes.

There's something strange going on outside the walls of the castle. I see a set of thick, burly men skulking around the premises... is that something shiny in their hands?

"What's going on?" I demand.

Giovanni pauses. "Nothing."

"You're a horrible liar. Now tell me."

Suddenly, an explosion rocks the walls. Portraits of long-gone relatives tumble to the floor. A flash of fear sparks in Giovanni's eyes. "I promised your mother..." he murmured.

Another explosion.

Something like resolution sets in his face. Without hesitation, he snatches my hand in his and we sprint faster, faster down the hallways.

Fencing has kept me in shape, thankfully, and we make it to the stables just as the doors behind us collapse into rubble.

Giovanni turns to meet me, his hands in mine. "I-"

He's cut off by a BOOM.

The worlds spinning, colors merging into a billion different shades until all I see is... black.

And all I can think of is...

And all I can think of is... what was Giovanni going to say?
