A memory I've been cherishing ever since it happened.
Painful yet beautiful, I thought it's worth sharing.

Impossible Love

"I love the way you make me feel." I admitted to her as I took a sip from my coffee, letting the warm steam caress my face as I took pleasure in the sweet and calming flavor of the liquid.

"How do I make you feel?"

She asked with genuine curiosity, her beautiful eyes shining so bright I was sure that they mirrored that innocent soul of hers with which I quickly and unconditionally fell in love.

I needed some time to think about the answer to the question which caught me off guard quite a lot,

I needed some time to think about the answer to the question which caught me off guard quite a lot, for I wanted to be as honest as possible,

I needed some time to think about the answer to the question which caught me off guard quite a lot, for I wanted to be as honest as possible, in the nicest way possible.

"You make me happy and sad.

Happy because it's a pleasure to fall asleep with your face, voice and smile filling up all the space inside my head,

Happy because it's a pleasure to fall asleep with your face, voice and smile filling up all the space inside my head, knowing that I found the person that can touch me without touching me.

Yet sad,

because the mere thought of you not being mine makes me want to rip my heart out of my chest to get rid of the unbearable pain.

You're a beautiful, sweet little paradox;

you give me so much strength yet you're my only weakness."

The rather long answer seemingly surprised her

but it did something else as well:

but it did something else as well: the ever so shining eyes now became even more brilliant as tears appeared inside, crying the words she could not speak.

I smiled.

She smiled too.

The usual sparks that always generated a kind of tension that I was surprised to stand now became an unquenchable forest fire.

I felt as though the both of us were pushed from behind towards each other by something invisible yet utterly powerful.

"You make me feel like the cool, morning breeze caressing my face, reminding me how wonderful it is to be alive."

She said, each word leaving her mouth jabbing my heart, shattering it even more (if that was possible at all).

I thought it was the time that our lips touch for the first time in forever, letting each other taste our own flavor,

yet the realization that she was already someone else's hit me harder than the mere sight of her...
