Something positive for once! I'm just about to reach the end of a journey and I'm feeling a little bittersweet. Reflecting does a lot of good (even when overused metaphors are involved)!

End of the Road

by davorite

It's always a good idea to be prepared for what lies ahead.

So you keep driving.

Some drives appear like they can last a lifetime.

But you don't always realize how fast you are going until you reach the end of the road.

The odometer says 75 miles per hour.

But it's broken.

The odometer says 52 weeks per day.

So you stop to think.

Where are you now? How much distance did you cover?

Were you always on the road? Or did you take breaks? Detours?

Were you discouraged along the way?

Or uplifted? Maybe it's time to thank those who had helped you find directions.

Reaching the end of the road doesn't have to be a sad event.

There are always plenty more to take.

But here, now, just stop for a moment before moving on.

Breathe. You are doing perfectly fine.

I love a road trip. It is one of the best ways to get in touch with yourself. The trip is much better in an old clunker without AC. You roll down the windows and feel the earth's atmosphere blow across your skin. This is a beautiful poem. It evokes fond memories. Great job.
