Looking back on catching small crabs on the beach as a child

Crabs

by childstar

Down on the beach

Between rocks and barnacles

Small children roam

Searching for movement, for life

Squeals of delight fill the salty air

When the proper stone is lifted

Or the largest boulder is flipped

And all the bottom feeders scurry for cover

Some are lifted for closer examination

Held in the soft palm of a child’s hand

Set in a brightly colored bucket

And all will eventually be released back into the sea

This was a lovely vignette of the seashore. I love the tenderness with which you portrayed this little episode. Great poem!!!!!!
