The Last Part. The official end.

Before: Part Two

"I picked somewhere but I want it to be a surprise.”

So why don’t you drive and I will give you the directions.” She looked at him with a brightness in her eyes. They got in the car and she guided him to the bridge just outside of the city.

“I wanted us to do a ceremony of sorts.”

"We can both get rid of something we are holding on to that is making our lives difficult. I brought a leaf that was stuck in my hair that day. I never got rid of it because…"

"I wanted to remember my lowest point in life."

“Now it just keeps me there in that day.” She lets go of the leaf and it floats to the water and is swept away by the water.

“I know you didn’t bring anything with you"

Maybe you can just say something.” She looked at him as she leaned over the railing of the bridge. “I…I don’t know what to say. There isn’t really something I am holding on to.”

He looked at her as she gave him a sad smile.

She shook her head. “What then?” She stood and sat on the railing and looked behind him. "Kyle, you need to let it go. Just let go.”

“Kyle? What are you doing?” Dr. Conner asked.

She had a panicked tone in her voice. He looked around and realized that Claire was gone and he was the one sitting on the railing. "Why are you here, Kyle? Are you ok? Who were you talking to?”

"Is Claire here?”

She asked him rapidly as she slowly walked towards him. She did something on her phone without taking her eyes off of him.

“Kyle, Claire isn’t here. Claire died almost two years ago.”

She was killed. She was left for dead in the park. No one knows who killed her. I’m sorry to tell you this. Just please come with me. I will take you home.” She said as she reached him.

“I know. I know who killed her.”

“That is what I have been holding on to. I didn’t mean to. She was my baby sister. We were in the woods. I couldn’t leave her after. I stayed with her body. They thought I found her."

"Everyone felt sorry for me.”

"I should have let everything stop then. I shouldn’t have told the cops I saw someone running away. I should have just told them. It is too late now.” He said with tears in his eyes.

“It is too late for you to help me.”

"I killed my sister and now she has killed me.” He looked at her in the eyes as he leaned back and fell. The cops came to late to help him.

You surely could massage this into a short story. Add a few more twist and elements and you have yourself a novel. Great short story!!!
