and so it seems this is the end
he finally passed by the bend.
no one saw him coursing through,
not one even looked, no one knew.
he caught a branch both here and there
wondering if they had life to share,
but on and on ‘til he was gone
few ever heard his lonely song.
The water here is frozen still,
but I don’t want to swim I lack the will.
So let me fade into the black,
let none miss me or wish me back.
Too distant now, he tries to forget.
There’s nothing now that seems to let
him spare a thought on something else
so deeper darker still he delves.
Vacant is my body, void of life.
I’ve left him there alone to writhe.
Perhaps above I need not reach,
but wait for the trees to grow to me.
