You don't need to say anything.

Just Let Me

by burniingaschs

Don't tell me,

That you feel my pain.

Don't tell me,

That we're just the same.

Don't tell me,

That you know what I feel.

Don't tell me,

I just need time to heal.

Don't tell me,

That you can understand.

Don't tell me,

That you can comprehend.

...

You don't have to tell me anything.

Just...

Be there, when I'm alone.

Just...

Listen, when I call your phone.

Just...

Let me, lean on your shoulder and cry.

Just...

Tell me, that you'll be here all the time.

Don't tell me.

Just... Let me,

Be here,

'till I'm alright.

Phenomenal. Sometimes the best thing to say is nothing at all. Actions speak louder than words. Awesome post!

@bernardtwindwil Thanks, and yeah the person in the poem was asking for a lot. I find that when your really broken, sometimes you just want to be given things even when you have nothing to give in return. This actually wasn't the way I was originally going to write this, at first the person was significantly less needy. But as I was writing I realized that the demanding version is closer to what I'd probably feel. I wouldn't want to be reassured or comforted at first, I'd just want someone to be there for me, and I probably wouldn't be able to do anything in return, at least not at first. Anyway thanks, I always enjoy seeing your comments!

What are you giving in return. You are requesting a significant outlay of emotional and physical support. You have made demands but offered nothing that I can read. This was a beautifully written insight into a tragically broken person wanting everything on their terms. The tragic nature of this piece is haunting. It causes me to think, do the demands of the future reflect demands in the past? You were descriptions were adequate to visualize your message. Great poem!!!
