Feeling the weight of your alter ego Crushing your shoulders while you sleep,

Ken

Feeling the weight of your alter ego

Crushing your shoulders while you sleep,

Shunning the burdens we must now carry

For the forsaken vows you failed to keep.

Casting into your reflection a wiry web of lies,

Like fishing off a swiftly sinking boat

Ignoring people drowning like fruit flies,

In a bowl of apple cider vinegar.

Your eyes capture their demise,

Without any notice as you swim ashore

To the Island of Dolls where spirits wake

Inside figurines twirling from wire nooses.

With no regard to how many boughs you break,

The guts of a parasite, you keep kissing the curse,

Always out for blood, always on the take.

I want to watch you burn, shrivel and burst,

Like a flame to a tick, a leech to a saltlick.

The ring of fire is raging, without any care,

Ripping up the pamphlet Common Sense

While curling up cozy in your easy chair.

Building a new home doesn't change a man,

When he shuns the demons lingering inside;

Too afraid to subvert the dominant paradigm,

We can never leave our shadows behind.
